One of the most touching moment at the Sunday Emmy night was the appearance of this night’s hero, whose name sounded in 7 nominations: Temple Grandin. The favourite biopic of Emmy 2010 won 5 nominations of those seven for describing life of Doctor Temple Grandin. She got her degree in Animal Science and became the best selling author and consultant to the livestock industry in animal behavior, despite her autism diagnosis which was found out when she was only 2. Claire Danes played the title role and held back tears on the stage.
Lots of people heard that name for the first time at Primetime Emmy 2010. The biopic creators took home the title Outstanding Made for Television Movie and except this, they received multiple victories for actors Claire Danes, Julia Ormond, and David Strathairn, plus director Mick Jackson.
When the creators started to thank Grandin, she stood up from the audience and was asked to go to the stage. After a warm hug with the biopic producer Emily Gerson Saines, she was thanked again with Saines’ words: On behalf of all the parents like myself who have a child with autism, you are our hero,".
Danes and Saines wished Grandin a happy birthday and called out Grandin's mother, Eustacia Cutler, as "our inspiration."
Temple Grandin is considered one of the top advocates of both autism-spectrum understanding and animal welfare, and might be best-known for her invention of more humane slaughterhouse practices, for which she has been recognized by PETA.
