Emmy Award

History   Photo
Emmy is an award for excellence in television production mainly entertain-focused. It was established in 1949 by Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Los-Angeles. The name of the award was created by feminization of "immy" – the tube in old camera. To create the integral style of the award image, a special statuette was designed. It depicted a woman holding an atom. The main idea was to tie the science and the winged muse of art. Firstly, Emmy Awards ceremony covered only United States national entertainment product, but in the early 1970s the International Emmy Awards started the tradition of honoring television programs produced and issued outside the U.S.A. Currently there are plenty of different Emmys specified on area ranging from honoring nationally televised shows to regionally- and locally-produced programs.
