Shaq O'Neal bids farewell to basketball

Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal, the 7 ft 1 in American basketball player has announced his retirement on a networking site a few days ago, much to the disappointment of his fans across the globe.
 
Shaq, as he is popularly known, started off his carrier playing for Orlando Magic in 1992, and went on to become the top center for the team and also won Rookie of the year award in the same year. He later led his team to the 1995 NBA finals and then signed as a free agent with Los Angeles Lakers. Later in his career, he went on to win three consecutive championships in the year 2000, 2001 and 2002. 
 
Four years in the team, he was then traded to Miami Heat in the year 2004, where he brought in the championship once again the year 2006. Phoenix Suns then acquired O’ Neal in mid 2007 -08 in exchange of Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks, and after the 2009 NBA Playoff where Shaq did not participate, he was then traded to Cleveland Cavaliers in the same year in the month of June. He was traded with Aleksandar Pavlovic and Ben Wallace. Shaq had faced an injury in February 2009 while playing against Boston Celtics and in 2010 NBA Playoff they had lost to Boston Celtics in Eastern Conference Semifinals. This saw his then getting acquired by the Boston Celtics in the year 2010 -11.
 
Shaq is a legend and is NBA’s oldest active player, having a career of 19 years. His achievements include 1999–2000 MVP award, the 1992–93 NBA Rookie of the Year award, 15 All-Star game selections, three All-Star Game MVP awards, three Finals MVP awards, two scoring titles, 14 All-NBA team selections, and three NBA All-Defensive Team selections. He is one of only three players to win NBA MVP, All-Star game MVP and Finals MVP in the same year 2000. He is also a media personality and has 2 reality shows and 6 rap albums and many films to his credit. He is also pursuing his PhD at the Barry University. 
 
While Shaquille O’Neal is ready to retire, there has not been any official announcement by his team Boston Celtics.
