The young driver Dan Wheldon took part in Indi 3000 race to compete for $5 million. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive injuries which he suffered when his car crashed into fence. The accident happened when a chain reaction of vehicles reached his car and made it fly above others before hitting the barrier.
15 cars were involved into the accident. IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard announced Wheldon's passing, saying, "IndyCar is very sad to announce that Dan Wheldon has passed away from unsurvivable injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family today."
Indi star of 2003 and 2008 said of his death: "Dan is family and I will miss him badly. Such an amazing person and wonderful family man. We will be with Susie, Sebastian and Oliver for whatever they need. I still can't believe it."
